他方において、メール打ちはまたその不利な面もある。そして多分これらの問題が関心を生む。（更に不利な面を産む）メールを打っている人間たちは以前よりずつと多くの迷惑メールを受けていると不平を言っている。教師たちは学生がかけるべき時間より多くの時間をメールを打つのに使っているためにテストの点数が段々悪くなつてきていると不満を言う。また、メール打ちは悪い文法や句読点の打ち方を助長するという人びともいる。そして私の意見だがそれは真実だ。学生たちは彼らがメールの言葉で随筆を書くべきでないと悟っていない。そしてその結果として彼らは低い成績をとることになる。多くの若い人達は彼らの携帯電話からポンとメール文字が飛び出すときは何時でも夜も目が醒めているのでより少ない睡眠をとっている。ずっと続けてメール打ちをしていて手や親指への障害を持つ人達もいる。
しかしながら、メール打ちについてはまた、より深刻な問題がある。人々がメール打ちと車の運転とを同時にやっているときに起こる交通事故のようなものがある。幸運なことに多くの国々では車に乗っているときにメール打ちするのは非合法であるという法律が成立している。さらに追加すると、公共機関の宣伝広告は運転中のメール打ちの危険性について警告している。おそらく、それでメール打ちにおおいに関心があるという十分な理由がここにある。
