Festive Market of Shizuoka tea leaves
Shizuoka tea leaves in season are nowly picked everywhere.in Japan.
The first trading in them has taken place at a market in Shizuoka Prefecture.
Saemidori, the name of tea leaves, were traded at \1.09 million per kilogram, the highest price since the market opened.
(They were grown by Watanabe and rubbed by hand by 10 local residens.)
Last year, the grower of tea leaves, Watanabe shipped tea leaves priced at \1.08 million per kilogram, a figure(\1.08 mil.) set after ‘chaju’ . ‘chaju’ literally means ‘celebrating a 108-year-old’.
That is longevity celebration long life anniversary.
This year,he grower shipped them priced at \1.09 mil as I said before.
He set the price in the hope to have a life longer by one year.
He emphasizes that the product has a rich aroma and mild flavor.
The buyer of the product agrees that they are a high-quality product. because the leaves are picked and rubbed by hand and processed with delicate care. And he hopes to increase the tea industry and promotes Shizuoka tea through this cheerful topic.
I think that Tea leaves are healthy enough to contain catechin, polyphenol. And they are suitable to the image of the long life (longevity)

長寿のお祝い「茶寿」とは
長寿を祝うことを「賀寿」と言います。
有名なところでは、
60歳・・・還暦
70歳・・・古希（こき）
77歳・・・喜寿（きじゅ）
80歳・・・傘寿（さんじゅ）
88歳・・・米寿（べいじゅ）
90歳・・・卒寿（そつじゅ）
99歳・・・白寿（はくじゅ）
100歳・・・百寿（ひゃくじゅ、ももじゅ）
がありますね。
ところで、「茶寿（ちゃじゅ）」があるのをご存知でしょうか。
長寿社会で、最近少しずつ目にするようになった賀寿のひとつです。なんと108歳のお祝い！
「茶」という字の草かんむりは古く「十十」と書いたので、まずここで10＋10で20。
次に、下の部分は「八十八」を縦書きしていますので、草かんむりの20と足して108というわけです。
茶寿のお祝いの品はもちろんお茶が一番です。
あるいは茶寿をお迎えになるご本人さまが、記念品として周囲にお茶をお配りになることもあるようです。
カテキンやポリフェノールをたっぷり含んだお茶はヘルシーで、長寿のイメージにぴったりですね。
「元気で茶寿を迎えてね」の意味も込めて、長生きしてほしい人にお茶を贈ってみてはいかがでしょうか。
