to show the feeling about remark, to make a remark manner clear, to cut a remark into pieces.

 

First story is a couple are talking about his pants.

a Joe, you can't wear these pants anymore.

    Look, there is a hole in the back pocket.

b But those are my favorite pants. All my other trousers are too tight on me.

a Well, you can't go out in these. What will people say?

b They can say what they like. It doesn't bother me.

a Listen. You are getting new pants. Let's go shopping. I need to get some new clothes for spring any way.

b OK. If you insist.

b I've heard of them. Unfortunately, almost nobody uses them now.

a Can you check for me? Here's the cartridge.

b Mmm. I'm afraid they stopped making these about ten years ago.

a Oh, no! So I can't use my word processor anymore?

b There might be some cartridges available on the internet.

a OK, thanks.

b Actually, I was hungry, but I couldn't eat that stuff.

b To put it mildly, it's the worst Chinese food I've ever had.

a But it was your idea to come here for lunch.

b Well, this used to be a good restaurant. I guess they changed cooks recently. I'm never comming back .

a Oh, that's too bad. My food was fine.

b Sure, here you go. As the boss mentioned before, we need to put our desk number on all our boxes.

a Got it. But why do we have to move now?

I'm extremely busy.

b Everybody is busy, Jonas. Assisting in the move is part of your job.

a Well, I hope you understand I might be late with my report.

b Like I said, this move has priority now.
