Today’s speech is a talk from ラジオ英会話.

Topic is conditional statement.

If, if not, unless, just in case, as long as, otherwise, or.

First story is A soccer player and his coatch are talking about his missing practice.

 

a Tony, You misses every practice last month. What's going on?

b Sorry, coatch. I 've been busy with my part-time job.

a Well, you are going to have to make a choice between soccer or your job.

b You know how much I love soccer. But I need the money to help pay for my school fees.

a I understand that. If you carry out like this, I 'll  have to kick you  off the team.

If you don't do exactly as I say, you 'll suffer the consequences.If you exercise more, you 'll feel much more energetic.

If you don't pay me back by Friday, I'll make you suffer.

 

Second story is Two persons are talking that their friend are late for their appointment.

 

a Where's Liz? She 's always late.

b She's still in her room. She's probably still sleeping.

a But the buss for Mt. Fuji leaves in 1

5 minutes. The next one doesn't come for another hour.

b Don't worry. I'll go and get her.

a OK. But if she doesn't get down here in time, I'm leaving now. I've been looking forward to seeing Mt.Fuji for months.

b Take it easy. Mt.Fuji is't going anywhere.

I`m not going unless you don't invite him,too.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't get chosenas captain.

If you don't  have time now, we can meet later.

She will be disappointed  if she doesn't get into a top university.

You can't get into this club unless you wear a jacket and tie.

 

Third story is Two persons are talking about how to get ice cream.

 

a Did you enjoy the hot spring, Aliy?

b Yes, it was so relaxing. But now I want some ice cream.

I should have bought that miso ice cream back at that shop.

a Don't they sell it here in the Hotel?

b No, they just have chocolate and vanilla ice cream.

You stay here. I 'll go back there and get some.

a Wait. I 'm sure you can handle the Japanese,

but I'll go with you just in case.

b Thanks, Shota.

I'm taking a phone charger just in case the battery runs low.

It' always good to back up your data just in case.

Last story is A couple is talking about their water heater to be fixed.

 

a Hi, Honey. I'm home.

b Hi, how was your today?

a It was fine except for this morning.

 There is no hot water so I took a cold shower.

b It' happening more and more recently. Our water heater is too old.

a We will have to get it fixed soon. Otherwise, we will probably both catch a cold.

b OK. I will call the repair people first thing tomorrow morning.

a Thanks, Honey.
